Iona - A Guide to the Sacred Isle: the historic island of Iona in the Western Isles of Scotland has been known through the centuries as a sacred place where “the veil between the worlds is thin.” Why has Iona gained the reputation that it has, and why do people from all faith traditions come on pilgrimage to this sacred place?

Through personal accounts and spiritual reflection, the author, who has directed retreats on Iona for 40 years, brings to life the rich heritage of Iona and the legacy of Celtic Christianity. She also gives practical advice and information about the Island and how to plan a memorable pilgrimage retreat.

“I would suggest that every Iona pilgrim carry a copy of Vivienne Hull’s Guide. It beautifully connects past and present, the personal and the cosmic, the spiritual and the practical, and, most importantly of all, inner healing with the great work to which we are all called, transformation in our world.”

—John Philip Newell, author of A New Harmony: the Spirit, the Earth, & the Human Soul

The Iona Report - Story of an Enduring Vision: here is the story of a couple, Fritz and Vivienne Hull, who for 40 years have led retreats on the Island of Iona in Scotland. Why is this tiny island such a famously powerful and sacred place?  As the home of a resilient Celtic tradition for hundreds of years, Iona has enriched the lives of countless pilgrims and nurtured many movements for spiritual renewal. In telling about these annual retreats, the island itself, and Celtic spirituality, the author brings the story into the present, describing a newly emerging work on Whidbey Island in Washington State that is deeply inspired by Iona.
